How Random Wheel Generator Works
Setting up a wheel takes three steps, and none of them require sign-up.
Add Names to the Wheel
Type or paste your list of names, numbers, or options into the entry box. Each line becomes a new slice on the wheel, so a list of 10 names makes a 10-slice wheel. There is no cap on how many you can add.
Customise How the Wheel Spins
Adjust colors, add a background image, or rename the wheel before you spin. This step is optional. If you just need a fast answer, you can skip straight to spinning with the default look.
Spin the Wheel and Get a Winner
Click the wheel or the spin button. It slows down and stops on one slice, which becomes your result. You can spin again immediately, or remove that name first if you don't want it picked twice.
What is Random Wheel Generator?
A random wheel generator, also called a wheel spinner, wheel of names, picker wheel, or decision wheel, is a tool that turns a list of options into a spinning wheel. Each name or item you type in becomes its own slice, or segment, of the wheel. Spin it, and a pointer marks where the wheel stops, landing on one slice at random.
The idea is simple, but it solves a real problem. Picking a name "randomly" by hand, calling on students, or choosing a winner from a comment section always carries a little doubt. Did the teacher really pick at random? Did the streamer already have a favorite in mind? A wheel spinner removes that doubt because everyone watching can see the same spin happen in real time.
Where Can You Use This Free Wheel of Names?
A wheel of names works anywhere a fair, visible pick matters more than a manual choice.
Classroom Name Picker
Teachers use it to call on students without anyone feeling singled out or skipped. Because the class can watch the wheel spin, there's no argument about whether the teacher "meant" to pick someone. It also works for assigning group roles, seating swaps, or deciding who presents first.
Giveaway Winner
Streamers, shop owners, and social media accounts use the wheel as a giveaway wheel or prize wheel to choose a winner from a list of entrants. A visible spin matters here more than almost anywhere else — it answers "how was this chosen" before anyone has to ask.
Party Games
For a night with friends, the wheel decides who goes first, picks a truth-or-dare prompt, or settles what movie to watch. Type in the options, spin once, and go with it.
Decision Making
Some decisions are small enough that the debate takes longer than the decision itself. A work standup can use the wheel to pick who speaks first, or to assign a task nobody has claimed.
Is the Wheel of Names Free, Fair, and Private?
Yes to all three, and each one matters for a different reason.
Free
There is no paywall on the core wheel. You can add names, spin, and get a result instantly without paying or creating an account.
Fair
The wheel uses your browser's built-in cryptographically secure random number generator to decide where it stops. Every slice gets an equal, independent chance each spin, unless you deliberately resize a slice.
Private
Everything runs in your browser. Your list of names is never sent to a server, and nothing is saved unless you choose to save it yourself.
What Are the Features of This Name Picker?
Full Customisation
Change the wheel's colors, add a title, or swap in your own background image. Fully responsive across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
Random Pick
Each spin gives every name on the wheel the same chance of being picked, independent of any past spin.
Unlimited Entries
Add as many names as you need. A short list of 4 works the same way as a list of 100.
Image Background
Upload a photo or image behind the wheel to personalize it for a specific event, class, or stream.
Remove Winners
After a name is picked, remove it from the wheel with one click so it can't be picked again — elimination mode.
Save Results
Keep a record of past spins so you know who has already been picked, without needing to remember it yourself.
Why Do People Use a Wheel of Names?
It's Visibly Fair
Because the spin happens on screen, everyone watching sees the same transparent, unbiased process.
It's Faster Than Debating
Typing in the options and spinning once is quicker than a group going back and forth on what to choose.
It's More Engaging Than a List
A spinning wheel holds attention in a way a plain list or a name pulled from a hat does not.
It Fits Almost Any Situation
The same tool works for picking a student, a contest winner, a party order, or dinner.
